7 Reasons to backpack Philippines

We have fell in love with this beautiful country – There aren’t enough words to ever describe our experience here. We sure hope to come back some day. Until then I will give you few reasons to book your flight and relax in Philippines.

Friendly and kind people – We are still in the beginning of our journey and don’t have a large comparison, but locals in the Philippines are the most warm, helpful and kind people so far. They will share their home and food, even if they don’t have much. They wont hesitate to share information and inside tips. They are the most smiling and happy people we have seen – Even on a rainy day they, they keep their spirits high.

Diverse and beautiful nature – From white sand beaches, high volcanic mountains to deep jungles. It doesn’t matter if you are looking for lazy but relaxing beach holiday or active getaway packed with action, you will find everything in Philippines.

Vivid history – Philippines has a rough history, being occupied by several other Nations. But this has made them more diverse. Although they don’t have really old cultural heritage like some other Asian countries, it still surprises you, if you have the time and care to dig in.

They mostly speak good English – I really respect their mother language Tagalog, which we got to know a little bit. But while being a long time under US occupation, they learned to speak good English. English is also the second official national language.

More than 7000 islands – So there is more than enough discovering for a lifetime. On our 4 months of stay, we only managed to visit about 10 islands (including the really small ones).

It is relatively cheap – For Estonians it might not be extremely cheap, but it is still cheaper to travel around here than in Estonia and a lot more cheaper than most of western Europe. You can make you euro, dollar or yen stretch here pretty far 🙂

It is always warm 🙂 – If you are little bit like me – European up from north – who doesn’t get nearly enough sun, it is heaven all year around. Although Philippines are big and have really different climate on various parts, there are still a lot a places, where you can have mostly sunny days all year around. So don’t worry about rainy season, it’s not that bad.
